About David McMillan


Having been involved in the property industry one way or the other for over 25 years as both a Builder and Advocate, David McMillan has been an active property advocate since 1999 and has provided consistent advice to many clients over those years.


When David McMillan first came to Melbourne from country Victoria, he started working for a series of builders, mostly doing inner city renovations. After a few years he became a registered builder specialising in commercial refurbishment and residential renovation. Projects ranged up to $5,000,000 and it was very busy and exciting. In 1999 after helping many friends buy property and advising on tactics at auction, he decided a change was needed. Buyer Advocates were just starting in the property arena. Times were changing, buyers were looking for representation.

After a time as a selling agent, David decided that selling was not the right path, the experience of what goes on behind the scene was invaluable though. He decided to become a Buyers Advocate, and at that time there were very few Buyer Advocates. That is where it all started. As the founder of McMillan Property Advisers, David’s speciality is primarily providing advice to acquirers of property and helping find selected properties. David has saved many thousands of dollars over the years and help buy 100’s of properties. The primary focus is advice to buyers but the need to assist vendors appears to be increasing.

Over the years as his client base has matured, the business has become more specialised and moved into advising vendors on the sale of properties and how best to achieve a stress free result. David now is involved in selecting the right agent, time lines, commission rates, quoting ranges and managing selling agents on behalf of vendors. With knowledge and relationships formed from buying and dealing with selling agents this helps his clients meet their property objectives.

David set out in real estate with the objective of forming long-term relationships with clients and to provide advice that can be relied upon when making property based decisions. David clearly has a quality that is few and far between in the hustle and bustle of commission driven property deals.

He has established a network of professional service providers that he regularly refers clients to when they require external advice. Davids reputation is no fuss and he calls a spade a spade! If his advice is unbiased and rational, clients will stay for the long term, which is undoubtedly the aim.
